Problem with Empty as Object Offset

i’m pretty new to blender and i have a pretty trivial problem with and empty (i assume). i watched a tutorial and i tried to recreate a cylinder by rotating a part of it around an empty with the array-modifier.

this is the unexpected result the settings in the array modifier. normally the 4 parts should be on top of each other until i actually rotate the empty around the y-axis. the empty has not been touched at this point. hope you could give me a hint what i did wrong.

Without a blend to look at, best guess would be that the “pipe” object was rotated in object mode at some point. Here’s a simple version that works of the same thing for you to compare too.pipe.blend (604.9 KB)
