Hi
I have a plane and i want to extrude the vertex of this plane to make another plane, i remember in blender 2.49 i hit “e” then “s” to do it and i get another plane surrounding the original plane and i get 8 vertex, 8 edges and 5 faces.
Now in blender 2.55 the minute i hit “e” i get 8 vertex, 12 edges and 6 faces.
It is like it gives depth to the third axis and that is what i don’t want.
Anyone can tell me how to get what i want?
I can’t get it to do what you’re describing, either. However, you can simply select the large face and delete it after extruding. Not the most elegant solution, but it works…
Set Edge Select mode, and use Shift+E when you extrude.
Shift+E is setting the edge crease when I try it, Richard. However, I fiddled with other modifiers, and alt+E gave me the option of choosing “Edges Only” and that produced the 5 faces result.
Correct – r33151 in this case. Thanks for calling me out on that; I should have mentioned that to begin with.
Thanks Richard it works for me, but can you please explain to me why i should press shift+e instead of just “e”?
