Ok, so i’ve been trying to get some decent results with the fluid simulator, but everytime i go to a high resolution, something strange happens, as you can see in the attached photo. However, on a lower res, such as 32, everything works out fine.
I dont know what the problem is. It works fine in Blender 2.49, but when i try in blender 2.5 it doesnt work.
I have seen similar problems with my scenes. (disappearing surfaces, etc) I don’t think there is any real solution that an artist can apply, I tried playing with the different settings to no avail. I’d consider this a big. IIRC the same scene bakes fine on Blender 2.49.
There had been some fixes recently on the fluid engine, so things might be different.
I found out that the OpenMP builds, which uses multithreading to speed up the fluid computation, is not as stable as the non-OpenMP version, so if you are having problems with fluid engine not behaving correctly, maybe try a version without OpenMP? It will be slower on multi-core CPUs, but at least it works
