Hi, I need to make hole thru plane wing from top view, it’s not problem to make the hole, but when I use subdivision surface, it makes ugly mesh. I tried boolean and many options of hand modeling, but result is still the same. In the picture are approximate location where I need to make the holes. Can someone help please?
Booleans should be a last resort,
Always try to hand model stuff
I’ve already answered this question indirectly in another thread so…
yeah
…that’s not how you create a circle
But it’s okay, it took me a while to figure out how too,
okay so what you do is this
1.Enable looptools in the addons menu
2.cut diagonal lines using the knife tool, make sure 1 vertex is there
2.Subdivide the mesh
cont’d
In this case, You can select the edges that go across where the hole would be and subdivide them twice (this will make a new section of geometry within the model).
Afterwards, delete that section and you will have your hole, you can also tweak the area or after through the use of the edge-slide tool (accessed by pressing ‘G’ twice).
Get rid of the most of edge loops along the wing - let the subsurf do the job and leave just a minimum needed to get the shape.
Use Knife project (again, make ring vertices count minimal) and make holes a tad bigger so that you can extrude face ring around. Use knife or J to connect vertices.
