Problem with Imported obj - too dark to work with

Hi Everyone,

Newbie here learning Blender and hoping to make custom clothing as well as buildings, bridges, ornithopters, tunnels, cliffs, mountains and airships etc etc with a view to illustrating a novel.

My problem right now is that I can’t for the life of me manage to work with a Genesis 3 character imported into Blender. In EDIT mode it’s pitch dark.

ETA - Having said that ---- the problem was with an obj file. I’ve tried it with a collada file and I’m finding that perfectly workable so please nobody go to any trouble over this question. It’s all good so far although no doubt I’ll be asking more questions in the future.

Hi!

Have you removed any material that is assigned to the object?
But without a screenshot or sample files it’s hard to give further advice.

Thanks for replying. I have no idea how to do that.
I’ve literally just exported a Genesis 3 character from Daz as an obj file and imported it into Blender also as an obj file.

Sorry. I should have specified that it was an obj file.

I’ve also imported it as a collada file and I’m finding it easy to work with. I suspect I’ll be able to make clothes that fit and if they fit it as a collada, they’ll fit as an obj and I’ll then be able to rig the clothing to the character…which will no doubt mean I’ll have oodles more questions for people about THAT process.
