Problem with light and material water, Blender 2.5

I am busy with a project on using Blender fluid in education, see

http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=202328&highlight=

I’m trying to find a nice material for water. When rendering something strange happens, to upperside of my fluid, it is looking different than the rest see: Settings material are included

Settings Sun

Setting lamp for shadows

What could be the problem?

Look like it´s fine.
The surface of your water mirrors the sky… I guess you have sky turned on?

I did some test-renders. Resolution 1280 x 720.
I have spread the pictures over 2 posts, because there is a maximum of 3 pictures per post.

Render with no material for fluid, render time 25 sec

Render with material, render time 20 min!!

Render with Environment lighting World turned off, render time 1:28 min!!!

Continuation previous post

No environment lighting World, double intensity sun light, render time 1:28 min

No environment lighting World, double intensity sun light
Turn off world, no Paper Sky, no Blend Sky and no Real Sky, render time 1:28 min

Settings material river

I’m still not happy with the result of the water surface. For me the last one is the best until now.

I’m still not happy with the result of the water surface

A lot of pretty pictures but point out precisely what about the surface you don’t like. Don’t just say, point out on the images etc.
Why not just attach the blend file (without fluid data) and have done with it. It’s 10 times easier with the blend so users can tweak its settings rather than having to set up a scene trying to match your settings.

No problem, I have the blend file and the picture I used for the surroundings attached.
(Is there a possibility to include the picture in the blend file?)

In the model you can find two materials for the fluid “water river” and “Water blue”.
The pictures are made with “water river”.

In my opinion the surface of the water looks to solid and give to much reflections.
