I’ve been trying to do this tutorial but hit a wall with particle system. When I change the system to Hair, the paths shown as the particles are perpendicular to the emitter as you would expect but when I change the Render setting to Object or Group the particles are just “lying” on the emitter. You can see the effect on the picture below, on the left there is default Path setting and on the right Object setting using the green plane lying around.
How can I make them “stand up”? Or is it a bug? I am using newly released 2.59. And I’m new to Particles so if I missed any crucial setting that’s my excuse;)
Ok, so I’m an idiot. Rotating the object around Z axis 90° (or -90°, that depends on situation I guess) solves my problem. And I tried rotating around X and Y so many times yesterday:yes: Sleeping on it obviously helps:cool:
I’m having the same issue but can’t figure it out. What property did you set? Are you rotating the object itself (the single instance which you’re generating the particles from?). I have an object in this case, which is standing upright, and all the particles are sideways when rendered. Messing with the particle variables seems to do nothing. What do you think?
Yeah, I was rotating the object itself, I did it in Object Mode as I wrote around Z axis. Try to have the original object and the particle system in the viewport at the same time (or in different window), that way you can immediately see whether (and what) rotating helps.
to add further confusion, anybody notice that in 2.58, a particle object must be rotated so that its “up” axis points along the positive Y, whereas in 2.59, its the positive X?
