Problem with rendering from the command line - ubuntu7.04 i386

(Blempis) #1

As simple as it should be, I just can’t get it work.
Instructions follows as
blender -b yourfile.blend -f 1
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Reference/CL

But what about the path? I tried
blender -b /home/mypersonal/blender - yes the folder exists/yourfile.blend -f 1

It says the python script was found and blender quits. All that happens so quickly that it is impossible the rendering result could be ready and finished.

I seem to be blind to figure out what I’m doing wrong. Any ideas how to make it work?

are you in the same directory as the blender executable? if not, and you have not exported an environment variable/aliased “blender” then you need to specify the full path to the blender executable.

also, you probably want to add in a “-O ./” in there somewhere to tell it to output the render to the current directory (or wherever). otherwise, it will spit it in the default directory and you’ll have to go hunting for the output.

edit:
by the way, heres a somewhat more useful reference for just rendering from the command line:
