Problem with rotating object on axis

Hi
I have a question which seems to be very basic.

I want to rotate a ball (sphere) but when I hit “R” the ball is not rotating around its own center but around the cursor which is unfortunately located far away from the ball and I don’t know why.

When I hit “shift+s” and select “Cursor to selected” the cursor stays where it is.

I read somewhere that I should hit Comma, but that doesn’t have any effect.

I would be very grateful if someone can help me with this.

Sadik

how about hit R then hit Z and mouse move.

Sorry, maybe it’s because of my bad english that I can’t explain my problem.
When hitting R and then Z I can rotate the ball around the z-axis, but not around the axis of the ball itself. It’s rotating like a planet on its path. The axis simply does not run through the object.

When I hit “shit+s” and select “Cursor to selected” the cursor stays where it is.

This sounds like the center of the ball is not in the balls geometric centre. Try selecting the ball then Shift+Ctrl+Alt+C / origin to geometry. This will positon the balls origin to the center of the sphere. The comma key will then set the pivot point to this point (in object mode)

first select your object then
