Problem with text and Cell Fracture

Hey guys. I just got a quick question. Text objects don’t seem to work correctly with the Cell Fracture Add-on. I create my text, make it 3d, turn it into a mesh, delete all double vertices, and then cell fracture it. For some reason, one letter in the word doesn’t seem to finish fracturing. The “T” at the beginning of the word fractures only halfway. A large chunk of the cell fracture, still attached to the “T” doesn’t get removed when the cell fracture finishes. Solutions?

What I usually do when I know I am going to fracture text or use it with Dynamic Paint is to add a ReMesh modifier to mesh object from the initial convert from font to mesh. Set the Octree to 8 and turn off Remove Disconnected Pieces. Click Apply and now use that for the Cell Fracture. A quick jump into edit mode will reveal an even grid like structure that is more friendly for fracturing.

The only problem I have with using that modifier is that if I set the Octree to 8, my text ends up with a boatload of unneeded vertices. My computer slows WAY down and the Cell Fracturing takes much longer.

I had the same problem, so I used the “Limited Dissolve” tool and set the angle to 1. That helped out a whole lot.
