Problem with the Explode modifier in 2.63

Hey so I have this problem:
I was going to make some exploding planets, so, I added a UV Sphere and added a particle system. I turned off the gravity(since it’s space and all) and then added the “explode modifier” and pressed Ctrl+A to see where the animation was at to start making changes to it and this is what happened. All of the exploded particles face down the X-axis and don’t act like they used to. (Used to when you would do this the faces of the particles would face the direction that the particle was going). I don’t know how to fix this. I’ve been trying everything!!!

In the particle settings set the Rotation / Initial Orientation to Normal
