Problem with viewing videos from a Dutch television site with Ubuntu

I can only play videos from a Dutch video site thanks to the MediaPlayerConnectivity Add-on for Firefox.

I have installed the w32codecs and the vlc player.
I get the message that a plug-in is missing:

(Microsoft Media Server (MMS) protocol-source.

However the embedded video area shows a film icon thanks to the MediaPlayerConnectivity Add-on . After clicking a stand alone vlc player appears.
With the MediaPlayerConnectivity Add-on disabled the film icon does not appear so it is not possible to view the desired video.

To conclude:
So, How can I get rid of the missing plug-in message?
How can I get VLC functioning embedded in Firefox?
