Problems with Emit

From what I understand, in YAFray, the “emit” property doesn’t really make the object emit light, but just reflect incoming light with an intensity stronger than it was recieved - this poses several problems - though in regular circumstances it’s ok, I’d like to make a scene completely illuminated by “emitters”, but it seems I need some kind of an ambient lightsource first before the textures work.

Is there a workaround this ?

yafray can almost do this. with blender you have to use lamps or use raidiosity.
