I’d like to know if someone can help me achieve a procedural Forged Carbon material. I’ve come somewhat close using my node knowledge (i.e I followed a galvanized steel tutorial) but I don’t know how to take it to the next level, and so far I found zero attempt at doing it in Blender on the Internet, so:
What combination of textures should I try to get this pattern, as well as the flaky reflection seen on the car picture?
The pattern looks pretty similar to OSB (Oriented Strand Board) if this can be of any help.
Ah thanks for the reply and explanations. I did see these prior to asking there, these required image textures and the results didn’t look as good as I wanted it to be, but your tweaking makes it worth a try, so I’ll give it a try when I can and let you know. I still wonder if it’s possible purely using nodes though? I’m sure I’ve seen way more complex patterns made using nodes, but yeah that’d requires someone who knows a lot about nodes to really spend time on it
My second link above was for a procedural, it looked OK but I didn’t have time to try it out…it is a mixed stack of Voronoi textures each one slightly set different from the one before…
Ah you’re right! I saw the orange nodes and thought it was another image texture, I didn’t see it was Noise. Alright then, I’ll try a mix of these and let you know.
Hey! So after months since I last posted, I did somewhat find a solution:
The shaders from UDIN come in a free demo bundle and contain a forged carbon procedural shader which is just perfect for what I needed.
I’m not advertising or anything, but it’s some of the best shaders for automotive work in Blender I’ve come across so far.
