hie guys, i have been tryin to make a mesh that explodes starting from the bottom and going up. I cant seem to get this effect right. I need your help please.
As far as I know, this effect is much easier to do in 2.49 than 2.5, as it works best with reactor particles. If that doesn’t matter, check out this tutorial. Just animate the ball going up, instead of across.
Hope that helps!!
thanks Sam.am looking into it now.
In 2.5 you can sort the faces of your exploding object in edit mode. So if you are in Top view and sort faces from view then your object will explode from the bottom up.
Actually, that works well. Just make sure, in the particle settings, under the emit from buttons(verts, faces etc) to uncheck random.
in case you don’t know, type “sort faces” in the searchbar, and select the first one. (view axis I think.)
thanks guys. I have been experiementing in 2.49 the whole day,and got some pretty decent results, will certainly give 2.5 a try. @Sam thanks again coz i didnt know that.
You could also add a texture to the particle system and map it to the time (i think it is the default setting). The simulation will use the color to calculate the location of the particles. With the explode modifier ( and with solidify if you like) you should be able to destroy objects progressively.
Exactly. Assign a blend texture to your particle system (make sure to first setup your particle system, then make sure to select the particle icon in the texture tab). I was actually just making this today; http://db.tt/s5t5XMeD
