Projected External Texture Painting

Hey guys,

I have a rather high poly model I’m texturing at the moment and I’m finding the ordinary texture painting mode to be pretty sluggish. I did find an option in the Texture Painting mode to externally edit a capture of the screen and project it back onto the model but after a few attempts to get a response and a look around on Google I still haven’t really made any progress with it. Can anyone here explain what this tool does?

First you have to asign an editor’s .exe path in preferences->file->image editor
Then, next time you click on “Quick Edit”, it will open your editor with a viewport capture, so you can paint over, then save and go back to Blender to apply the changes you did in the editor.
