I think most of the people round here pronounce it God but when you make the correct letters silent, it comes out geek.
Hehe j/k, why don’t you just PM him? Is it because you will be meeting him at the Blender conference and you don’t want to sound like an idiot pronouncing his name wrong?
On a more helpful note, it might be pronounced Go-ral-chick. The cz sound is used in czechoslovakia.
1 point for the (almost) correct pronounciation. -1 point for the assumption that it’s a Czech name.
The name is in fact Polish and should be pronounced Goo-ral-chick (the spelling has been anglicised, the “o” should have a dash over it). The word is derived from the work “goral” (also spelled with a dash), which is an inhabitant of the mountainous south in Poland. This term is in turn derived from the word for mountain, “gora” (spelled with a dash as well).
Cheers,
Tom
