So I have recently been trying to better my skills in sculpting and I have gotten a bit confused in the workflow. There is definitely a lot of different opinions out there and after watching a lot of tutorials and combining what I have learned this is the workflow I have come up with.
Is this the proper workflow, or should something be changed?
Detailing models: (scratches, dents, etc.)
- Use a multiresolution modifier and brushes/textures to get the look then convert the sculpted details to a normal map and add it as a normal map to the original model before detail sculpting
Something like character modeling:
- Start with basic shapes like metaballs and blocks
- Use Dyntopo to try and get your base model into the more desired overall shape (big details)
- Retopologize that model
- Use a multiresolution modifier to add any details, convert sculpted details to a normal map, and then add it as a normal map to the original model before detail sculpting
So is this a good workflow or can it be improved?
