I have selected a few vertices on the further end, activated proportional edit and moved these vertices. The majority of the band then flexes as expected but there are some faces that are acting very strangely and it seems they aren’t really affected by the proportional edit as desired.
I then tried achieving the bend using the simple deform modifier and it also resulted in a strange outer surface while the inner surface of the band is more or less correct.
The below image is what happends when i bend it a full 360 degrees.
That is not the way I would approach this…I find that bend does not work well for circular results…I find using follow Path and a curve modifier will usually get a better result…
In your solution, it looks like you need far more geometry on the Right side to stop the faceting…and it should not stretch the geometry in the center as it is doing.
I tried with the curve modifier and it will definitely give me more control which is great but I’m still have the issue with the surfaces faceting.
The model is a imported OBJ file, attached is an image of the band in its original flat orientation. How would you suggest I go about adding more geometry to the back? Sorry if this is a silly question, I’m still quite new with blender.
Yeah you can see it is trying to curve with only like 5 face loops down the Back…
I would just select all and in Edit, subdivide edges a couple times…
To do the back select all the Back Faces and then do your subdivide…
After that use a Simple Subdivision Modifier and then add your curve modifier.
Add your circle and with the Band selected point your Curve Modifier to the Circle…you can scale the circle to get the amount of curve etc…
