I had a lot of fun with this personal project! To challenge myself, I wanted to translate the 2D concept by the incredibly talented @dereklaufman into a “realtime 3D illustration”. I did all the modeling stuff in Blender and the texturing in Substance.
The sketchfab presentation is really neat!
It looks so good it deserves its own Netflix spinoff…
THAT IS SOOOO NEAT! Reminds me of those Magic Eye things.
I’m confused, where does the 2D end and the 3D begin. I’m so confused it all looks like the same character exactly.
Thanks It’s all the same character and all images are 3D.

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
Whoops, I forgot to add the link!
Yay, thanks Bart! You, too, have a great weekend
I agree with @Boder … this is awesome and mind boggling at the same time. Reminds me a bit of that Samsung 3D TV ad.
Nail it! Great work.
Thank you for the kind words
You’re on the #featured row!
So good! Did you handpaint the textures?
The 3d scene in Sketchfab viewer looks just like a good stylized 2d illustration which is impressive by itself. Then you realize it can be rotated in real time without breaking the illusion of being 2d work.
Absolutely amazing work. I don’t often see 3D renders that look just like pen and ink.
So well done! Amazing
