Pushy Collision Detectors

Got a bit of a problem here, I am making a car for the game engine and have two planes set up as collision detectors. When one is hit, the car will steer in the opposite direction and avoid hitting anything. However, these collision detectors affect and push other objects! My question is, can you have an object that will sense a collision but not affect other objects?
