Nice!

But why such shallow depth of field? It even makes the half of the monkey’s details disappear. Makes it look like one of those generic “AI” images.

Too true; You are right sir.

You may get an answer like : “Because i wanted you to focus on X and Y”

no; that’s not a reason to use shallow depth of field; that’s a reason to learn composition.

Thanx a lot :raised_hands:

Thanx

The shallow depth of field in some renders is intentional and based on physical accuracy in optics. Since the pygmy monkey is very small (around 14 cm in height), objects of this scale naturally exhibit a strong depth of field when photographed or rendered realistically. This approach enhances realism and accurately reflects the subject’s actual size and natural context.

Moreover, precise adjustment of Subsurface Scattering (SSS) was crucial, as it plays an essential role in achieving realistic materials for a 3D model of this small size. This detail was a key part of ensuring the highest quality in the final result.

I focus on accuracy and realism in my work, and this choice was a deliberate decision to reflect those values.

Looks amazing :sparkles:
Reminds me of Aladar’s family of monkeys from Disney’s Dinosaur movie

Sorry i don’t understand

Oh, that was two months ago.
I was replying to your comment about the render taking four minutes, which surprised me
I thought usually it’d take a lot longer than 4 minutes for that level of detail so I thought I’d make a joke about it.

For some serious work.
As you well know, this was quite beautiful. Very engaging.
Wires would have been great but the controller goes a long way.

Great inspiration.

It’s so photorealistic that I couldn’t believe my eyes at first! Stunning work!
