Python? Timeline? programming animation

Blender/General question here -

I know enough about Blender to draw boxes and make them fly. I’m more interested in the animation than the modelling.

Is there some sort of core/basic tutorial on python? Does python give you more power with your animating, or is it just rendering stuff? I just need basics on Python for now, I suppose.

help!

In the renderengine there’s very little python used for animating. If you look at the scripts in the Animation slot of the Scripts menu, you’ll see it’s mainly useful for setting up rigs before any animation has been done. Then there’s crowd simulation like Flocking, Boids and (Harkyman’s) BlenderPeople, and, in similar vein, Game2Ipo, where gameengine physics is written to IPO’s to be used in the renderengine.

You can read the 2nd link in my sig for Python 101.
