Q: "Back View" in 3D View (or similar) [SOLVED..]

Hi!

I was reading BlenderArt #8: Car Modeling just a couple of minutes ago. On page 51 there is a screenshot of Blender where the screen is split into 4 “3D View”, and one of them is the “Back View”.

When using the NumPad shortkeys, or the view-menu on the header, I can only find these options: Side, Front, Top, User, Camera.

Does anybody know how to change to, for instance, “Back View” and still have the grid displayed and a background-image?

Thanks & Happy Blending!

EDIT: Solved. Hold down SHIFT while pressing Side, Front and Top. Thank you BlenderWiki.
Took me an hour to figure out …

i bet you found some other useful stuff along the way…

sorry i didn’t get here sooner!

Hold down SHIFT while pressing Side, Front and Top

It’s actually Ctrl, not Shft.

Shift and CTRL both work in linux. Only CTRL works on the windows machine at work.

I have done some “research”, since everybody came up with a different answer.

  • http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/3D_View_Options says that SHIFT is the key. (Under section View Menu > Side, Front, Top)
  • Both CTRL and SHIFT works on Windows, but they work differently:
  • SHIFT works only when choosing the view from the menu on the header (ex.: [View] > [Side]).
  • CTRL works both when using the numpads, and when choosing from the menu.
  • And, as GreyBeard said, both keys work on Linux. (I haven’t tested, reason: haven’t got Linux at home.)Thanks for all your answers anyway.
    And yet again; happy blending!
