Quartz material

Hi guys, I’m really new to blender, I did some reading and a beginners tutorial and I started to work in this scene. I’m quite happy with the modelling but I can’t get the right material on this grains of salt. I’d be very grateful to get some tips on the shaders.

These are two of my renders and the reference image:


The second one is better, but it’s like a little washed out. I’d like to recreate this sort of layers of lit stones.

Hi, after struggling for a couple of days, I come up with this nodes:


I know it’s not perfect, but it’s looking pretty good for me, and for being my first render I’m satisfied. Here it is:


Just a hunch, but your quartz objects do overlap, don’t they?
Could that be a part of the problem? Having no clear distinction between the different objects?

if you don’t want the overlap then use the molecular script with particles
