Quesiton about the curve modifyer

hey. I have a shot where i need to move an arrow along a sharp bend quite linearly. But there is alot of weird stretching and especially there is a bulge at the bend that make the body of the arrow not keep it’s straight proporitons, it seem to shrink around it

i have applied all transforms to the curve itself but it doesn’t seem like i can do that with each individual point. but i don’t know if that would fix this

for refrence this is the arrow without the modifier

Yeah , I don’t think it’s an issue with your mesh arrow, but rather because of how curve deform works…
For the second issue, you might look into curve constraint, meaning the tip of the arrow could follow the path rather than deforming it…

It’s not exactly the same but this might be an option…

And for the first one, a very cheap way to fix it could be to change the corner’s radius like so :

Anyway, most of the time curve deforms works fine, but I think you find some corner case where it shows that it’s not perfect…

Another road could be geometry nodes, there are some nodegroups that allows to do a curve to mesh without the bulge , and you can also do the same thing with the arrow tips…

No perfect solutions, but at least you have a few imperfect solutions to choose from…

thanks! i’l test these out.

I know it’s not a proper solution but if everything else fails you can animate by eye a shape key (or two) to compensate for the distortion like the shear key in the file below:
