It would be a lot easier all around if we all used the same video. I’m highly interested in compositing, and I would be interested in a contest, but my camera is so low-quality that I would never be able to get the Blender material to match up with the taped material.
I think it should be open. You could shoot your own video if you want, or in the case of DW, he could use video provided by the contest organizers. I like the idea of this contest.
I suggested your choice, and would also like to suggest that entries be judged leniantly as to the quality of the video used, not in terms of composition, but graininess etc.
I’d like to explain the situation a little better…
I ran a compositing contest a couple of times before. The first time it wasn’t very successful and there were only two entries, so I’ll talk about the second one. I provided a simple video of a basketball rolling across my living room. You could use that, or if you wanted you could make your own. (If anyone wants to know, there were nine entries, eight used my video and one used a different video.)
Alltaken wants to have another compositing contest. I suggested that it be similar to the previous one, but he thinks that maybe it should be more complex.
I think the options he gave in this thread won’t help us decide that very well, that’s why I’m explaining this. If you just gave your opinion about what kind of video you’d like to composite I think that’d be a lot more helpful.
Hey, I’m all for simplifying things. I was just considering the comment made about the quality of video especially if you don’t have access to a good camera.
