It has some very useful features, like the ‘modifiers’ which do things Truespace 3 (another free one) can not do. Its ‘mesh smoothing’ and ‘subdivision mode’ are features that even in commercial apps you can not find in the same quality…so I heard. :o
I too, used anim8or; until earlier this year when I came across Blender. I won’t be going back. I exported my anim8or files as .obj and imported them into Blender with a python script found in this post: https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13374

I’m sticking with Blender over anim8or for basically 2 reasons which are features and speed. Anim8or is limited in modeling techniques (at this time) and I can create the exact same model in Blender much faster and in different ways. If you compare the two’s features you too will see Blender comes out on top. It has taken me longer to learn Blender than Anim8or, but that is only because Blender does have more features. I do like 2 items that are available in Anim8or -a stable Undo and an Edge-Select mode; but I’ve find that as my skills improve I don’t need the Undo. And as for the Edge-Select I’ve found that I haven’t needed it as much as I thought I would. Blender does have tools that come close to mimicing that feature so I use them when I need it.
Anim8or is a good program and I’m not downing it. The last time I checked only one person is developing it and he is doing a good job by himself. Also I liked all of the third party programs developed that use the .obj file format; but with that python script that allows for import and export of .obj I really have no more need of anim8or. Plus anim8or doesn’t have a built in game engine.
Yes, I find Blender to be more stable and to be better in all departments. Hope this helps,

It’s just that I’m quite picky now, about what software I have on my machine. All I’m after now, is software that is WELL crafted.
Anyway, many thanks!
Sorry, one last question.
Do you reckon I should wait till version 3.0 comes out, before I download, seeing how version 2.8 has the game engine missing.
I’m not really a big fan of plug-ins. (unless they actually PLUG-IN…WELL!)
I think I heard that’s their intention of adding the game engine later.
I want a Blender that is complete.
I suppose I could download 2.5.
If I were you, I would download 2.28 or 2.25 (or both). After all, they are both very small and dont take up much memory. I would get Blender now so that you can learn its basic features. There are some minor bugs and inconviences but the dev. team are working on that. You might also try tuhopuu which has some extra features lacking in Blender.
I think it will be 2.8 though, I can live without the game engine for a while, plus 2.8’s got less bugs, which do tend to make me pull a very grim face!
And no, I wont use one of the Emoticons silly faces to display that face.
