I know that I can press shift-F7 on any 3d window and get this button window:
The “Gridlines:32” button would seem to me to control the number of gridlines displayed (without zooming) on the applicable 3dwindow. But if you count the number of lines on this image.
You will see there are 42 horizontally and 26 vertically. Why is this if the button says it should be 32?
Thanks theeth. Then there must be something wrong with blender on a windows system because when I rotate my viewpoint I lose all grid lines. I have to go back to the standard top,side,or front view to get grid lines back.
I’m under window myself (Win 2K) and Blender has that behavior only if the grid lines are set at 0.
Otherwise, you may be looking way off the origin, where the grid lines don’t extend in an axonometric or perspective view.
Ok I found out part of the answer to my question. The grid “exist” in the x-y plane in blender. I will show up when you view along the left side, top or,front view but if you spin those view points with the 4,8,6,and 2 key you will see that the grid spins along with them and is lock to what was the x-y plane. Which is the where the default blender plane lies if you have not changed b.blend.
When I said the grid disappear I was spining around the 4 axis from a front or side view with the 4 and 6 numpad keys. Thus since the grid is locked to the x-y plane I would make sense for it to disappear because my view in the 3D window is from its edge.
I thought that since the grid showed up displayed parallel to the monitor screen in the top,front and side view then it would show up that way from ANY viewpoint .
I hope I have not confused everyone with this post.
