Hiya,
I’m just starting out learning 3D modelling in Blender 2.8 and I’m trying to learn how to make Final Fantasy style environmental and decorative models like the pictures shown below
How would I go about learning to do this specific style and aesthetic and learning modelling in blender in general (i’m like absolute beginner level like i can model very small low detail things) and how long would it take (estimated) ?
It’d take a little while. You not only have to learn modeling, but also texturing, baking, composition, and a number of other things to produce something on par with what you’re showing here.
To sum everything up with a pithy quip, you’re going straight for the deep end before you’ve learned how to swim. All you’ll accomplish is getting in over your head, and likely drowning yourself in the attempt. It’s better instead to start in the wading pool, and work your way to the deep end over time.
Start out simple, with low poly flat shaded modeling, where you only have to worry about basic topology and composition. I’d suggest checking out Polygon Runway for some good examples there. From that point, you can try to make a low poly representation of these scenes above, then try to learn some texturing, and so on and so on.
Modeling is like any art that you have to learn over time. If you start out trying to reproduce a Rembrandt the first time you pick up a brush, all you’ll do is discourage yourself. Start small, and don’t be in a rush to be the greatest ever.
