So let’s say I have a rigged door: it’s casing, the door itself, the handle and the armature - everything is combined into a group. Now I want to use it multiple times in the same one scene. The obvious solution is a group linking, but after linking my door to other .blend file it seems I can drag it here and there, rotate and scale, but I can’t manipulate it’s armature. Let’s say I want to link my door three times into a scene where two doors should be closed and one should be opened. The question is how to achieve this without appending instead of linking etc. I don’t want to append for obvious reasons. Is there a way?
P.S. I’m currently using Blender 2.49b.
Nah, the solution turns all wrong actually :(. The question is still there…
If you’re using an armature for the rig, you can use a proxy (select your group instance, press Ctrl+Alt+P, and select the armature from the pop-up list). Of course, there’s still the complication that your proxy rig is going to influence ALL of your group instances in the scene. This is a current shortcoming of the proxy system. Beyond making multiple copies, there’s not really a clean workaround for that.

Yes, that’s why it is not a good solution.

That’s sad. I guess I can only hope for a future fix.
Thanks for the answer anywhere.
