question about rigging

after creating from bone heat and adjusting in weight painting, i tried to go back and modify the mesh in edit mode. as soon as i leave edit mode, it pops back to the position/shape it was in before i edited it. when i go back into edit mode, the mesh is adjusted the way i want it…

is there a way to edit the mesh after the armature has been applied to it or do i need to go back and start from scratch? or can i just edit the mesh and then apply the armature to it again?


Are you using shape keys? If you are, then the mesh edit you did will only be to the active key.

If not, then you could try getting rid of the parenting, editing and reparenting like you said.
