Hello, I have been learning about the hair curve grooming method (not the particle based method). It is pretty cool, but it has raised some questions which I am hoping I can get answers for here.
The first question I have is that I noticed in many of the tutorial videos I have been watching, they have mentioned that hair dynamics for the curve system would be coming. Some of the videos are a year or more old. Has there been any news as to when dynamics for the curve hair system will be arriving? Has there been any news about that? I would love to know.
It would be nice to have some dynamics for curve hair, however for short haircuts, I suppose dynamics are not that necessary. However, I think I saw somewhere that curve hair cannot be rigged to bones. Does that mean that you cannot affix curve hair to a rigged character? I mean, if you add curve hair to the scalp of a head and rig that head to a head bone, will the curve move with the head? I am not talking about dynamics, I mean simple rotations and translations.
Yes, if the mesh is rigged then the hair will follow it, that’s why the first modifier on a hair curve object is Surface Deform.
You can also rig a curve or a mesh and then convert that to hair through geometry nodes
Thank you very much for answering my questions. I look forward to the dynamics on the curve hair being a reality although I wonder when it will be implemented.
Okay, that is good to know if that the curve hair is applied to a rigged mesh it will follow it.
They need to call the new Blender hair system (i.e., instead of calling it Hair Curves/Geometry Node hair) something that is easier to google. It’s so difficult to learn information about this hair system.
