How do I have one object in my scene not receive any AO, but stil receive light from lamps and whatnot?

You can’t, but on the other hand now you can. This should be very possible with Composite nodes - I’m no expert here (but the experts will surely show up soon) yet what I’d do is to use Renderlayers and exclude the object from the AO Pass. It’s actually the same way I’d do it in PostPro.
For the object that you do not want AO on, turn ambient down to 0 in the materials settings. Using this slider you can adjust how much AO and regular ambient the material recieves. This will not affect any other types of lighting.
