I’ve wanted to try sculpting for the first time and I decided to try with a quick stylized self sculpt. My first impressions doing it with mouse and keyboard - HARD!
The area around the mouth/lips proved to be most difficult but this was the best I’ve come up with. Looking at it, the combination of the eyes - mouth looks a bit creepy (I swear I don’t look like this irl ) but that is is for the moment. Any suggestions & advises are greatly appreciated.
This is not bad for a first attempt, although I do agree with the mouth being a little uncanny but the expression you were going for is difficult in and of itself too you know (open mouth smiles are more difficult than closed mouth smiles, in my opinion).
And yes, sculpting with a mouse and keyboard is hard. It’s been a few years sculpting with those, so I wonder if it would be harder to transition to a pen for the first time. Expecially with certain hand movements and habits already ingrained in muscle memory:sweat_smile:
I have to practice more on finer details in the future.
I used to have a pen tablet a while ago and the motion of drawing on the tabled and watching on the monitor again takes time to get used to, but still better control over m & k. Best option are the tablets that have a monitor (i don’t know what they’re called), but they are quite expensive I think.
All the best with your studies and practice. You started off pretty well, keep it up.
That makes sense, I think it’s because those tablets with monitors give the same feel as pen and paper, where you see your drawing on the paper as you draw as opposed to what you described with your pen tablet.
