Is there a way in Version 2.79 or 2.8 object or edit mode to view the scene in two side-by-side images, rotated slightly to simulate the views of both eyes so that merging the images by relaxing the eyes will produce a perceived stereoscopic image? If not, where can I suggest this feature?
This is not a question about rendering.
Could you not create 2 cameras and split the viewport?
I am having trouble getting the two images to be side by side. Are you certain that there is no automatic stereoscopic mode?
No, You have to do it yourself. You can also use Numpad 4 & 6 to rotate the view in increments
The built-in stereoscopic view for Blender is (AFAIK) anaglyph only.
