Hey, nico, I don’t know exactly what C4D V 6 is capable of, but 8.1 sure rocks - so it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. The price is right anyway.
I never once argued that there wasn’t software in existence that was better than blender. I argued that saying Blender is just a toy is quite silly. Yes, CG Talk has some amazing artwork in it, but keep in mind its coming out of much more mature software from very wealthy firms. I think we all agree, blender is unparralleled in the “more with less” department.
That’s not the point, the point is blender could by endless in it’s fuction if there’s more effort to put in script that is easly to get to and work with. Why can’t some fuction of Blender by combine to create new features, like extrudion along path with scale, twist and bevit ? Blender can do it, but it would take a script and combination to achieve it.
Al, almost all of the other 3D apps have scripting support…
Are you kidding!? I do that practicly everytime, you get way more control doing it the Blender way (well, not really like a two rail sweeping function, but a one rail, sure).

But we can all rejoice in the fact that we know the two rail sweep will one day exist as a part of Blender…oh yes…one day… ahhhhhhhhhh…so refreshing

Let me guess, duplframe and animate right ? But there’s alot of extra work envoulve, to make a script that would extrude the shape, a repeated extrudion would make the work easer on the brain as well as on the time to creat it. I also tried out ac3d that came with Mandrake and to my amazment include a spline.
