Raceservice recreation (environment study)

Comparison to the Original:

Disclaimer: This project is not affiliated with Nissan, RACESERVICE, or Colorsponge Carlos.
This portfolio only serves to be a personal practice only and will not be used commercially in any way.
This Project serves as a Recreation of the Environment of the amazing ‘RACESERVICE’ post by Colorsponge Carlos, to benchmark Blenders capabilities of heavy scene environments as well as realism.
If RACESERVICE or Colorsponge Carlos insists on taking this post down I will take it down without hesitation.

Project:
I wanted to recreate the most amazing full CGI post I have seen in a while, to challenge myself for realism and to test if Blender is capable of handling heavy environment scenes.
Blender did a solid job, although I had to use some workarounds later on, as it got really heavy.

When I started first I really struggled and did not know how to tackle such a complex and crazy detailed scene, but I just started anyway, I modeled the rough shapes I needed and kept adding more and more over time.
Progress shown here:

Procedural Shader Adjustments:

I certainly have learned a lot during the recreation.
Furthermore, I learned that I have a long way ahead of me for realism and full CGI environments.
Three months of work were spent on this Environment Study.

Many times I was glad to have my friend https://www.artstation.com/dazze to help me solve problems I encountered.
He also gave me a lot of suggestions and feedback which was incredibly helpful!

Due to it’s complexity I did not recreate the complete environment and did not recreate every single camera shot and angle like Colorsponge Carlos did, there are A LOT of details missing which I am aware of, but I am satisfied with the level of detail I was able to add and achieve such a good looking result.

Blender Addons I Used:

  • Botaniq
  • Quixel Megascans
  • Physical Starlight & Atmosphere

Scene Statistics:
Objects: 936
Faces: 7,173,731

Feel free to ask any questions or give your honest feedback :D!
