depends…the cpu is the one the renders the images or scenes…and I guess the RAM is the one that takes care how complex the scenes is :-\
can be wrong though…
I say look into Floating points if you can.
My Choice revolves around , CPU over all performance with Mother of choice, (A good Mother board can make a world of difference compare non-nForce2 AMD boards with nForce2 of the same CPU speed)
Then Stuff all the RAM you can into it.
I ended up with a XEON 2.4GHz HT, but I’ve been getting smoked buy my friends nForce2 board with the same speed CPU and RAM, both of us have 1,256Meg RAM. I think its my ECC Regester RAM that slows me down.
guys, i don’t know computers… I really don’t.
I have just recieved a file that my computer cant render… it jsut freezez, and i am getting a new comp soon, and basically, which is better…
3ghz and 512 mb ram
or
2.6 ghz and 1024 mb ram?
uh you put it that way i would go with the 2.6 just make sure that the ram is pretty fast itself
is that 3gig Intel P4 or AMD?
3gigz might be a good sweat spot compared to the 2.6gig. If it is a P4 check to see if its 800MHz front-side bus or 533Mhz
If Its an AMD 3Gig Chip thats a cool find.
Price the RAM the 3gig might be a better deal. Being that ram is cheaper than a new 3gig CPU.
Is this a pre-built box you looking at?
from dell
you might want the 2.6Gig being its more RAM cause getting ram for the 3gig can cost $$$ and time. Do what ever your pocket oks
I too would go for 2.6Ghz + 1GigRAM

hey Stefano !
you back ???
