I am currently modeling a lamp and, being very new at blender have some questions.
the base of the lamp somehow links itself to pretty much every object, so that if I try to scale the new object, the base scales as well.
Exceptions:
Object is a light/lamp
Object has just been barely duplicated or created
The lamp base and sundry other objects are supposed to be black and show up that color in the 3d view. However, when I render I get a mist and all objects appear a dull silverish color. Changing the lighting does nothing to solve this problem as demonstrated in the 2 renders below.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated!

The linking was caused by having “Proportional Editing” turned on. Press ‘O’ (while the pointer is in the 3D view) to disable (toggle) it.
The extra light is caused by the Ambient light in the scene settings.
hi calebfig, did you ever figure out this issue? i know it’s a few days late now, but the ambient color settings are in the World settings tab.
i’ve never really found a reason to change it from black, because if you set up your lighting well, ambient color being black doesn’t cause any issues. changing it from black to something else, however, DOES cause color weirdness in your renders. you can also change the amount of ambient color an object receives by changing the “Ambient” slider on the materials panel.
