Raycast hit distance

Hi! So I’m trying to use a Raycast node to get the distance between two surcafes, but the float output seems to clamp at 1.0. Since my surfaces are more distant than so, is there anything I can do to widen this range?

and what makes you think, that it is clamped?

Maybe you set the ray length wrong?

would be a good idea, if you share your node tree or better your blend file

Yes as @Blender_Fun1 already hinted, its not clamped, but limited by the ray length. Maybe you also raycasted into the wrong direction, hard to say without seeing what you did.

Thanks guys! Indeed, I had set the ray length wrong. (Thought I had tried to increase but apparently I never did)
