real time text

im making a menu but im trying to do a tutorial to get real time text on the screen.
this is the tutorial http://bgetutorials.wordpress.com/2007/11/07/how-to-get-realtime-text-in-blender/

this file here shows you what the text is supposed to look like at the end
http://www.2shared.com/file/HC6ds4Fe/textExample.html

but this is what i get
http://www.2shared.com/file/l8d5QoDQ/text.html

the problem is that i can get the texture on the plane but the background is still there and none of the text that want to shoe dosent.

in 2.49 press F9, go into edit mode and open the texture face panel, select Text in the object properties.
in 2.5 go into object data in edit mode, and game mode. select Text in the object properties.

awsome thanks it worked.

no worries!

hmm that doesn’t work on mine, i have followed the tutorial in tutorials for blender website, i have even downloaded the example(which works even though it was made in 2.49), and mine still doesn’t work, all it shows is one @ for every character that i enter into my Text prop

can i see your file

oh and agoose77 you forgot to mention that you had to press alpha in the textface panel to get rid of the blackness around the text

Where did you get the font texture you are using? Did you attempt to modify it? There should be some rows of white dots at the top of the texture. These dots tell Blender where each letter glyph is located, how large the letter is, etc. If the dots are not left intact, then you will only see the @ symbol.

where can i upload my blend file to show you so you can help me

mine doesnt work. My Text disappears if I start the game engine

If you .blend file is small enough, you should be able to attach it to your post. Click the “Go Advanced” button when writing your reply, and add an attachment.

nvm i some how got it working even though i did the same thing

you can upload it to 2shared. thats where i go and then after it gives you the link. where you can copy and paste into your post
