Realflow to Maya to Blender help

Hy guys! Im again having issues. I want to export from realflow to blender, but blender can’t import realflow’s fluids and particles. So I decieded to use my Maya to export the fluids and particles to Blender. And when I export the fluids from maya to blender as an OBJ file it exports a still and not an animation. Any help to import the fluid animation to Blender?

If u didn’t understand im trying to export a fluid animation from realflow to maya to blender, but it’s exporting only stills and not a fluid animation. Help please?

Can’t you export from Realflow as OBJ Sequence? Do your really need the particles in Blender too?

Well I don’t need the particles, but I don’t think that realflow 2012 has a way to export fluids as OBJ sequence.

Realflow CAN export OBJ Sequence.see here or in the manual

But how can I import an OBJ or a LWO sequence into blender?

my understanding from reading the manual is that even though realflow can export an OBJ sequence that blender cannot import an OBJ sequence.

I’d love to see a way to import renderflow stuff into blender.

Well its possible, thats why I didn’t giwe up. This guy has done a very interested job with realflow and blender: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC3A_1uftFo he can use realflow suff in blender.

One of those stupid things i can’t believe Blender hasn’t OBJ Sequence importer - Since it has OBJ Sequence Exporter…

Some dev please make a usable OBJ Sequence Importer please?

I’va made a quick script to import OBJ Sequence from a Folder. Not very nice done, but it works. Don’t know how well it works with Big Meshes… (it seems to fill up the memory…)
(thanks to http://blenderscripting.blogspot.ch)

To run it:

Copy Code bellow into Blender Text Editor

Replace Line 8:

full_path_to_directory = ‘YOUR_PATH_THAT_CONTAINS_OBJ_SEQUENCE’

(note the ’ - they are important)

Code:
OBJSeqImporterII.py.zip (753 Bytes)

Attachments

OBJSeqImporterII.py.zip (797 Bytes)

neon - you are right that it is possible. Probably something along the lines of what bashi did. Ben Simonds did an awesome animation with realflow and wrote a python script to import it into blender. I talked with him briefly once about the script and his recollection was that it didn’t work too well, but it got the job done for him. I’m not sure if he makes the script available or not.
