Recently, I’ve been focusing on improving my visualization work in Blender and decided to do a typical architecture school exercise: Creating a material palette for a scene.
The exercise involves selecting a minimal number of materials from a project to create a study palette and observe how these materials interact visually. This type of exercise is done by the most skilled architects I’ve met, so I tried to replicate the exercise in Blender to see for myself how it would help my artistic process.
I feel that I should add more metals to the scene if I want to bring a more modern feel. The wood and rocks make me feel like they are medieval materials, and the piece of metal doesn’t seem enough to give a contemporary tone to the scene.
I must confess that I learned much more than I expected, and for now, this is the final result.
p.s. The intense glare in the highlights is intentional. I know it’s not realistic, but I liked how it turned out, bright and almost poetic, contrasting with the shadows.
