realistic fire (multiple fire peaks)



this is what i did in blender, all default preset(except resolution:96 ), and this is what came up, it looks good, but not realistic in shape, it’s too linear, in realistic flames, there are so much more randomness in it, and the burning points are in random places, whilst the default settings treats the object as a whole as a burning object


I think you can use force fields and wind and stuff with fire, as well as using animated textures to control emission based on grayscale value.

Yep - the random nature of fire is usually cause by differences in temperature, convection currents, wind etc all contributing together.

Take a look at this video of how fire burns in zero G vs in a gravity field - quite interesting

You’d need to simulate convection, wind etc using different forcefields. Take a look at this tutorial to see how multiple forcefields can be applied (although you’ll have to adapt the principles to your fire example instead of a tornado).
