I am in great need of realistic ocean water. Obviously the easiest way to do it is with textures and lighting rather than modeling. I have been unable to find any tutorials on how to make it with Blender 2.5 and I am a beginner with Blender so I lack the knowledge to do it myself. Help a newbie in need.
just use the same technics used for 2.49 and import in 2.5 !
that should work fine
happy 2.5
I’ve found a few tutorials for 2.49 but some of the things needed I can’t find in 2.5. Like “nor” slider.

‘Nor’ is short for normal and can be found in the texture options under Influence.
Here’s the best tutorial I found.

Also, I can’t find the influence tab anywhere. - You need to have a material first.
These are the things I couldn’t find from 2.5.
NoiseSize - Now known simply as “Size”.
Ref slider
ok, there are a few tutorials on how to make a ocean using procedural textures.
