Really stupid (probably) Blender Linux question

Sorry!

Blender knowledge base is down and this is presumably so obvious that no-one seems to have asked the question on here before, but here we go:

I’m not quite a Linux newbie (I’ve managed to install the Nvidia drivers for my Quadro GL 550 card, so I think I deserve a pat on the back for that  )

I’ve downloaded the Blender 2.23 tar.gz, extracted it, it’s up and running fine (runs like an absolute dream with the Quadro GL card), but, having used Blender on Windows since version 1.80, I’m used to being able to run Blender in its own window, resize it etc. That doesn’t seem to be possible in Linux. When I launch Blender, it completely fills the screen and doesn’t have its own resizeable window.

Is there anything I can do about this? I’m running Gnome on Red Hat 8.0.

Thanks!

Start blender with blender -w, -h option for more command line switches.

Brilliant, much obliged, sir!
