Hi nice people,
I’m trying out the Asset Browser for the first time. When I drag and drop a material to my object though, the material doesn’t display properly.
I see that in your node editor, you have a mix RGB node that doesn’t work anymore (that’s causing the lack of color variation you can see that is clearly different from your material preview). Is that the only one?
It’s difficult to have an idea of what’s going on without seeing the nodes properly. Can you provide a screenshot only with the node tree?
Also it seems to be that there is no displacment node connected to the displacement input at the output node ?
Understood. I thought these materials worked ‘out-of-the-box’. I wasn’t expecting to need to check the node trees. I have never used the Asset Browser before. Is it perhaps an outdated version?
Well… if they are not intended to use displacement… where are they from ?? There are also a new mix node used → red because they are from 3.4 upwards… and you are using 3.2 !!
I literally just opened up the Asset Browser for the first time and dragged and dropped a material onto Suzanne. Is it possible to update the Asset browser independently of Blender?
I doubt that there are any materials using 3.4 nodes in your 3.2 blender !? And as far as i know blender isnot shipped with any materials at all…
Could it be that you use any addon (was it somethign like blenderkit??) which downloads material directly from the internet ?? …and may import the newer material ???
No. Dont reinstall. The problem is new things your version cannot understand.
Replace the 2 red nodes with your own color mix node. Remember to check the values in the red nodes before replacing them.
Okay interesting, I checked my enabled Addons and I had two - one was a realtime lighting one and the other was a Realtime Materials package. I’ve disabled both of those and now I have no materials in my Asset Browser.
I cannot for the life of me remember when I downloaded those but I must have done and forgot about them.
So I did not realise that the Asset Browser in Blender is completely empty in terms of materials. I thought that, like Substance, it was pre-populated.
I think it’s easiest if I take the opportunity now to update to the latest Blender version, and then try a new material pack.
