Recognition of AMD(Pro) video cards in HIP (Linux)

No problems at all here on Manjaro. Bought a RX6600m for 150 Bucks from Alix. Popped it in and installed ROCm on top of the already present OPEN SOURCE drivers. HIP works just out of the box. No need to install anything proprietary. The OSS drivers are said to be faster anyway. Now Eevee rendering is in realtime, even on heavy scenes…

Unfortunately, the problems are only with the PRO segments of AMD graphics cards. They are stupidly not supported. Why? — I don’t know…Not relevant, or they don’t want to. The official driver, they didn’t help me either, I tried different distributions. As a result, I was told that it was impossible.

And how much is the time difference? FPS

Difference to what? It is like day and night as my previous card (RX580) had no HIP support. And as i said: Do not install proprietary drivers, that is what is causing all kind of problems. Do not even try, as they are very hard to get rid off. Just don’t. Any remainders and your problems persist.

For AMD PRO, there is no point in installing any of the possible drivers on linux. Better forget about it for a long time…And when the time comes, let others suffer.

=)

If you bought these expensive “PRO” graphics card, you can surely afford another solution. I am talking lowcost, not Lacoste :innocent:

I got it, at a price of $ 250-300
So…Unfortunately, it is lying idle, and it is not suitable for sale…I bought Nvidia in the summer.
