Hey guys, im still pretty new to 3d modelling. Ive been using my laptop but its just not up to the task anymore. Just hoping to get some feedback on what people are using and any recommendations. I’m only looking for mid range at this stage. Looking to spend $1000-$1500 AUD
i use ryzen 7 2700, 16 gb ram, gtx 1650, m.2 ssd 512 gb. its nice but gtx 1660 will be better.

Doing anything more complicated in Blender really relies on the performance of the graphics card. You preferrably should be rendering with a GPU as opposed to a CPU because the speed is so much higher for the price of a graphics card.
Because of this, you should focus on getting a decent card in your computer. You would want to get the best that your budget can get. Nvidia cards are usually the best choice with Blender, so that means going for a GTX card or even RTX if you can afford it (Blender can use the raytracing capability on RTX cards for a speed benefit).
You need to also consider VRAM of the card and not just its speed because a higher amount means more complicated scenes can be handled (a lack of VRAM may mean the card cannot handle a complex scene).
I have a GTX 1060 6GB, which is a great graphics card, not top-of-the-line by any means, but its specs are decent enough for me to get quite a bit done. 6GB of VRAM seems to be fine with what I have been doing, so it should be enough for most tasks that you would want to do.
Now, onto other components, a CPU is not as important, as the graphics card would have all the hard work with rendering, but you definitely want to have something decent there.
System RAM really should be at least 8GB, with higher amounts definitely recommended but not required (I use 8GB without issues).
When looking for a drive, a fast one is a good idea, so an SSD would be what you should be looking for although this speed only affects how fast things are saved or loaded from your computer.
